Game-Changing CB Drill for AAA Programs
At top-tier programs like the Bismarck Demons, cornerbacks must possess elite speed, agility, and reaction time. To develop these skills, we recommend the '3-Cone Shuttle' drill. This exercise targets the CB's ability to quickly change direction and accelerate while maintaining vision on the receiver. To set up the drill: 3 cones in a triangular formation, 5 yards apart. Players start at cone A, then shuttle to cone B, making a sharp turn, and finally accelerate to cone C. Complete 3 sets of 5 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: 'Focus on your inside foot, keep your eyes on the receiver, and explode out of the turn.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing CBs to develop the quickness and agility needed to stay with receivers on deep routes and make plays on the ball. By incorporating the 3-Cone Shuttle into your training program, you'll see improved results on the field.
