West Fargo Packers Tight End Drill: 'Route Runner' Series

๐Ÿ“ West Fargo PackersยทWednesday, July 8, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Tight ends at AAA programs like the West Fargo Packers need to be versatile and athletic. One drill that can help improve their route-running skills is the 'Route Runner' series. This drill involves setting up three cones in a zig-zag pattern, with the TE starting at the first cone. The coach calls out a specific route (e.g. out, in, or dig) and the TE must run the route to the second cone, then back to the first cone. The goal is to complete 3 sets of 5 reps per route, with a 30-second rest between sets. Coaching cues include 'keep your eyes on the target' and 'stay low and explosive.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the TE's ability to quickly change direction and accelerate out of breaks.
