FridayNightPulse Exclusive: 'Rush the Pocket' Drill for AAA DEs
At the top AAA programs like West Fargo Packers, defensive ends are expected to be game-changers. One drill that can help take their pass rush to the next level is 'Rush the Pocket.' This drill mimics the quick decision-making and speed needed to get to the quarterback in a split second. To run the drill, set up four cones in a square formation, with a quarterback at the center. DEs will start at the edge of the square, then sprint to the center, aiming to beat the QB to the pocket. Each DE will complete 3 sets of 5 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'eyes on the QB' and 'explosive off the line.' This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time, agility, and the ability to read the QB's intentions. It's a must-have for any DE looking to dominate on the gridiron this season.
