Quarterback Readiness: Fargo Shanley's Pre-Season Drill

๐Ÿ“ Fargo Shanley DeaconsยทMonday, July 20, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Quarterbacks at AAA programs like Fargo Shanley's Deacons are always looking for an edge. One drill that can help improve their game is the 'Rapid Release' drill. This drill focuses on quick decision-making and accurate throwing. To set up the drill, divide the QBs into pairs with one QB as the 'trigger' and the other as the 'target'. The trigger QB will call out a play, and the target QB must quickly read the defense and release the ball to the trigger QB. Start with 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest between sets. Coaching cues include 'read the defense, not the play' and 'release the ball before the defender gets to you'. This drill translates to game performance by forcing QBs to think quickly and make accurate throws under pressure, a key aspect of high school football.
