Mandan Braves CBs: Master the 'Shadow' Drill for Game-Changing Coverage

๐Ÿ“ Mandan BravesยทMonday, July 27, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, Mandan Braves cornerbacks can take their coverage skills to the next level with the 'Shadow' drill. This high-intensity exercise mimics the game's most critical situations, where CBs must stay one step ahead of receivers. To run the drill: Set up two cones 10 yards apart, with a third cone 5 yards beyond the second. Have a receiver start at the first cone, and a CB at the second. On the coach's signal, the receiver sprints to the third cone, while the CB 'shadows' their every move, staying within 1-2 feet. Complete 3 sets of 5 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cues: 'Stay on their hip,' 'Don't give them any separation,' and 'Keep your eyes on the prize.' This drill translates to game performance by improving CBs' ability to mirror receivers, stay in phase, and make game-changing plays on the ball.
