FridayNightPulse: Kearney Bearcats RB Drill - 'Power Through Contact'
At B programs like the Kearney Bearcats, running backs need to be able to power through contact and maintain top-end speed. To improve this, we're running a drill called 'Power Through Contact'. Players will start in a three-point stance, then explode forward 5 yards, lowering their body to absorb contact. Immediately, they'll jump back up to top speed and sprint 10 yards. We're doing 3 sets of 5 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cues include 'drive your feet' and 'keep your head up'. This drill translates to game performance by teaching RBs to maintain speed and balance through contact, making them more effective in the open field. By incorporating this drill into your training, you'll see improved performance from your RBs.
