Quarterback Precision: A Pre-Season Drill for A-Program QBs
As the heat of summer sets in, Lincoln East Spartans quarterback coach, Mark Thompson, is putting his signal-callers through a precision drill designed to sharpen their accuracy and decision-making skills. The 'Target Transfer' drill involves three sets of 10 reps, with each set focusing on a different type of target: a stationary receiver, a moving receiver, and a receiver in a tight window. For each set, the quarterback must complete a series of 5-foot passes, 10-foot passes, and 15-foot passes, respectively. Coaching cues include 'step into the throw' and 'follow through with your eyes.' This drill translates to game performance by requiring quarterbacks to quickly read and react to changing situations, making split-second decisions to deliver the ball to the right target.
