FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Lincoln East Spartans RB Drill
This summer, Lincoln East Spartans running backs can improve their explosion and elusiveness with the "Lateral Shuffle Drill." Set up four cones in a square pattern, with the first cone 5 yards from the starting point. Players start in a three-point stance, then explosively shuffle laterally to the first cone, planting their outside foot and quickly changing direction to the next cone. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cue: "Keep your eyes up and your weight low, shuffle to the cone and immediately change direction." This drill translates to game performance by improving a RB's ability to quickly change direction and accelerate through tight spaces, making them harder to tackle. It also enhances their ability to read blocks and make split-second decisions on the field.
