Patriots Prep: Building Unstoppable OL Strength with the 'Plyometric Pull' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Millard South PatriotsยทSunday, July 19, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Millard South Patriots football camp, our offensive line coaches are putting players through a grueling plyometric pull drill designed to build explosive power and speed. The drill consists of 3 sets of 8 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players start in a deadlift stance, then explosively pull the bar up to hip level, keeping their back straight and core engaged. Coaching cues include 'Pull with your legs, not your back' and 'Explode up, don't just lift.' This drill translates to game performance by increasing the OL's ability to quickly generate power and drive blocks. It also improves their ability to explosively get off the line and block defenders in space. By incorporating this drill into their summer training, Patriots OL players will be better equipped to dominate on the field this fall.
