CB Dominance: The 5-Yard Shuffle Drill for Millard South Patriots

๐Ÿ“ Millard South PatriotsยทThursday, July 23, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the Millard South Patriots prepare for the upcoming season, cornerbacks will need to be in top shape to match up against the best receivers in the NSAA. One drill that can help improve their agility and reaction time is the 5-Yard Shuffle. This drill involves setting up three cones in a line, 5 yards apart. The cornerback starts at the first cone and shuffles laterally to the second cone, then back to the first cone, and finally to the third cone. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the cornerback's ability to stay in phase with the receiver and quickly change direction to stay on their hip.
