Spartan Strength: Defensive End Drill for Lincoln East

๐Ÿ“ Lincoln East SpartansยทMonday, July 27, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Lincoln East Spartans defensive end coach, Mark Thompson, shares a drill to improve his players' speed and agility. The 'Shuttle Sprint' drill targets DEs in sets of 3 reps, with 30 seconds rest in between. Players line up 10 yards apart, with cones at the 5-yard mark. On 'go', they sprint to the cone, then immediately change direction and sprint back to the starting line. Coach Thompson emphasizes 'quick feet' and 'agility' throughout the drill. This drill translates to game performance by improving DEs' ability to pursue the quarterback and react to misdirection. It also enhances their overall speed and agility, allowing them to stay with faster opponents. By incorporating the Shuttle Sprint drill into their pre-season training, the Spartans' DEs will be ready to take on the competition come kickoff.
