Defensive End Dominance: The 3-Point Stance Drill

๐Ÿ“ Lincoln East SpartansยทTuesday, July 28, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the sun beats down on the practice field, defensive ends at top programs like Lincoln East Spartans are putting in the work to dominate on the gridiron. One key drill that's helping them achieve success is the 3-Point Stance Drill. This exercise targets the DE's ability to quickly change direction and explode off the line of scrimmage. To set up the drill, have the DE start in a 3-point stance with hands on the ground and feet shoulder-width apart. On the whistle, they must quickly shift into a 2-point stance, then immediately back into the 3-point stance. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'explosive hips.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing DEs to rapidly change direction and pursue the quarterback or ball carrier with speed and agility.
