Lincoln East Spartans OL Summer Training: 'The Chain Reaction' Drill
This summer, the Lincoln East Spartans are focusing on developing their OL's ability to react to defensive linemen's movements. The 'Chain Reaction' drill is a key component of their training program. Coaches will have OL players start in a 3-point stance, with a partner standing 5 yards away holding a chain. The partner will drop the chain, and the OL player must quickly react to the movement, exploding off the line and driving through the chain. The drill will be performed for 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest between sets. Coaching cues will emphasize 'quick feet' and 'aggressive hands.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the OL's ability to quickly recognize and react to defensive linemen's movements, allowing them to gain a competitive edge in the trenches.
