Unlock Speed and Agility: DE Drill for Div I Programs

๐Ÿ“ Manchester Central Little GreenยทSaturday, July 4, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At top Div I programs like Manchester Central Little Green, defensive end players are constantly looking for ways to improve their speed and agility. One effective drill to incorporate into your training is the 'Ladder Shuttle Drill'. Set up a ladder on the field with 5-6 rungs. DE players will start at one end of the ladder, then perform a lateral shuffle through the ladder (3 reps per side), immediately followed by a 10-yard sprint to the other end of the drill. Repeat for 3 sets. Coaching cues include: 'Keep your feet light and quick', 'Focus on speed over distance', and 'Drive through the ladder with your inside foot'. This drill translates to game performance by improving a DE's ability to quickly change direction and close on the ball carrier.
