FridayNightPulse: Developing Defensive Ends at Nashua South Panthers
This summer, Nashua South Panthers defensive end prospects will focus on building speed and agility through a dynamic 'Ladder and Shuttle' drill. The workout involves 3 sets of 10 reps, alternating between ladder footwork and shuttle runs. To execute, players start in a 3-point stance within the ladder, then quickly step in and out of each rung while maintaining a low center of gravity. After completing the ladder sequence, they immediately transition to a 5-yard shuttle run, focusing on explosive acceleration and deceleration. Coaching cues include 'quick feet, light feet' and 'explosive out of the ladder.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a defensive end's ability to rapidly change direction and pursue the quarterback, making them a more formidable pass rusher. By incorporating this drill into their pre-season training, Panthers DEs will be better equipped to dominate on the gridiron.
