Maximizing Junior Day Visits for Tight Ends at Div II Programs
As a tight end prospect at a Div II program like Exeter Blue Hawks, a successful junior day visit can be a game-changer for your recruitment. Coaches look for three key qualities: athleticism, blocking technique and pass-catching skills. To showcase athleticism, focus on explosive plays in the weight room and on the field, such as a 4.7-second 40-yard dash. For blocking technique, practice your stance, hand placement and footwork. On pass-catching skills, work on your route-running, ball-tracking and hands. During your junior day visit, be prepared to demonstrate these skills through drills and scrimmages. For example, be able to execute a clean block on a defensive end in a one-on-one drill. This will show coaches you can contribute immediately. Be sure to ask questions and take notes during the visit to show your interest and engagement.
