FridayNightPulse: CB Drills at Nashua South Panthers Training Camp

๐Ÿ“ Nashua South PanthersยทSaturday, July 25, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This week at Nashua South Panthers training camp, cornerbacks are focusing on the 'Shadow-Shuttle' drill to improve their reaction time and footwork. The drill involves setting up a 5-yard cone course with a defender at the top of the course. The quarterback (or coach) will call out a color, and the defender must quickly change direction and 'shadow' the receiver, who is running a 5-yard out route. The defender must stay within 2 yards of the receiver for 3 seconds to be considered successful. The drill is done in sets of 3 reps, with 30 seconds rest in between. Coaches will provide cues such as 'stay on the receiver's hip' and 'keep your eyes on the ball.' This drill translates to game performance by teaching cornerbacks to quickly react to the receiver's move and stay in phase with them.
