Blue Hawks' Backfield Breakdown: RB Power Drills for Div II Success
The Exeter Blue Hawks' running back corps is gearing up for a strong Div II season. One key drill to help RBs dominate on the gridiron is the 'Power Plateau' exercise. This drill focuses on building explosive power and acceleration. Set up 3-4 cones in a zig-zag pattern, spaced 5 yards apart. RBs will start at the first cone, then accelerate to the next, planting their outside foot and exploding through the next cone. Repeat for 3 sets of 8 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: 'Drive through your outside foot,' 'Keep your eyes up,' and 'Finish with a burst.' This drill translates to game performance by improving RBs' ability to quickly change direction and accelerate through holes, making them more effective in the backfield.
