FridayNightPulse Training Tip: TE Power Position Drill for Non-Public A Programs
At Non-Public A programs like Bergen Catholic Crusaders, tight ends (TEs) need to be versatile and physically dominant. One drill that can help TEs develop the strength and agility required for success is the Power Position Drill. This drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. Have the TE start in a 3-point stance with their feet shoulder-width apart and hands on the ground. On the whistle, they must explosively jump up and immediately transition into a tight end stance, hands in a wide receiver position and feet shoulder-width apart. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'explosive jump.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing TEs to quickly change direction and position, making them a threat in both the passing and running game.
