FridayNightPulse Training Tip: 'Shadow Shuttles' for CBs at Non-Public A Programs

๐Ÿ“ Don Bosco Prep IronmenยทSunday, July 5, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Non-Public A programs like Don Bosco Prep's Ironmen, cornerbacks must possess elite speed and agility to stay with top receivers. This summer, incorporate the 'Shadow Shuttles' drill into your training regimen to improve your CBs' game performance. Set up 5 cones in a zig-zag pattern, 10 yards apart. Players start at the first cone, sprint to the second, then immediately change direction to the third cone, mimicking a receiver's route. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cue: 'Stay low, eyes on the target, and explode out of the cut.' This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time, agility, and the ability to stay with receivers on quick, in-breaking routes. It's a challenging yet effective way to prepare your CBs for the physical demands of Non-Public A football.
