Devon Johnson: The Academic Ace on the Gridiron
Seton Hall Prep Pirates kicker Devon Johnson is no stranger to pressure, having converted 25 of his 30 field goal attempts last season. But what's equally impressive is his ability to balance the demands of varsity football with a 4.0 GPA. As a rising senior in the NJSIAA's Non-Public A division, Johnson is one of the top kickers in the state. Off the field, he's a member of the National Honor Society and has been accepted into several prestigious academic programs. On the field, Johnson's accuracy and leg strength have caught the attention of college scouts. This summer, he's attending a kicking camp at Rutgers University, where he'll be working with former NFL kicker Ryan Longwell. Scouts are watching to see how Johnson adapts to the college level and if he can maintain his high level of performance while taking on a heavier workload.
