FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Tight End Power Drills for Non-Public A Programs

๐Ÿ“ Don Bosco Prep IronmenยทWednesday, July 15, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Non-Public A tight ends like Don Bosco Prep's look to dominate in the red zone. To build their strength and explosiveness, try the 'Box Out' drill. Set up a 5x5 foot box with cones or markers. Have the TE stand with their feet shoulder-width apart, then explosively jump up and land in the box. Focus on proper landing technique, keeping knees bent and weight centered. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps. Next, add resistance bands or a weighted vest to increase difficulty. Coach cue: 'Box out, not in.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the TE's ability to seal the edge and create space for their quarterback. It also enhances their power and explosiveness, making them a threat in the red zone.
