Bergen Catholic Crusaders CBs: Mastering the 'Shadow Shred' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Bergen Catholic CrusadersยทSunday, July 19, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

To prepare for the Non-Public A season, cornerbacks at Bergen Catholic Crusaders can benefit from the 'Shadow Shred' drill. This intense exercise targets agility, speed, and reaction time, essential skills for shutting down receivers. The drill consists of 3 sets of 5 reps, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. Players start in a defensive stance, then quickly change direction to simulate a receiver's move. As they 'shadow' the receiver, they must stay low, keep their eyes on the ball, and explosively close the gap. Coaching cues include 'Shadow the receiver!' and 'Shred the sideline!' This drill translates to game performance by improving cornerbacks' ability to stay with receivers, react to quick cuts, and make game-changing plays.
