Explosive Acceleration for Non-Public A RBs: The 'Hill Sprints' Drill
๐ Bergen Catholic CrusadersยทWednesday, July 22, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider
For running backs at elite Non-Public A programs like Bergen Catholic Crusaders, explosive acceleration is key to success on the field. To improve their ability to quickly change direction and accelerate, RB coach Tom can implement the 'Hill Sprints' drill. This drill consists of 3 sets of 5 hill sprints, with 30 seconds of rest in between sets. Each sprint should be 10-15 yards in length, and players should focus on exploding out of the starting position, keeping their knees bent and weight forward. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'explosive drive.' This drill translates to game performance by improving RBs' ability to quickly accelerate and change direction, making them harder to tackle and more effective in the open field.
