FridayNightPulse Training Tip: LB Speed and Agility Drill for Non-Public A Programs

๐Ÿ“ Don Bosco Prep IronmenยทWednesday, July 29, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, Non-Public A programs like Don Bosco Prep's Ironmen can improve their linebackers' speed and agility with a specific drill. The 'Ladder Weave' drill targets quick changes of direction and acceleration. Set up a ladder on the field with 5-6 feet between each rung. LBs will start at one end, then weave through the ladder, focusing on keeping their feet inside the rungs. Start with 3 sets of 10 reps, rest 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: 'Keep your feet light, stay low, and explode out of the weave.' This drill translates to game performance by improving LBs' ability to quickly close gaps and pursue ballcarriers in space. As they master the Ladder Weave, LBs will be better prepared to make plays on the field.
