Quarterback Readiness: Cibola Cougars' Pre-Season Focus

๐Ÿ“ Cibola CougarsยทFriday, July 10, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the Cibola Cougars prepare for the upcoming 6A season, quarterback development is a top priority. One key drill to improve QB performance is the 'Quick Release Under Pressure' exercise. Set up three stations: a) a quarterback coach or trainer, b) a defender, and c) a target (e.g., a large cone or pad). At each station, have the QB perform a set of 3 reps, alternating between stations. The coach/trainer provides a pass block, the defender applies pressure, and the target is the receiving point. Coaching cues: 'Quick release, eyes downfield, step into the throw.' This drill translates to game performance by simulating the high-pressure situations QBs face, improving their ability to release the ball quickly and accurately under duress.
