Power Positioning for OL Dominance

๐Ÿ“ Cleveland StormยทThursday, July 23, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Cleveland Storm's 6A linemen are gearing up for a dominant season with a key drill that enhances their positioning and leverage. The 'Anchor and Slide' drill targets the critical transition from pass to run blocking. Divide OL into pairs, with one player as the 'center' and the other as the 'tackle'. The center starts in a neutral position, then drops back to anchor, maintaining a tight base and chest up. The tackle slides to the left or right, mirroring the center's movement. The center must adapt to the tackle's slide, maintaining a consistent block angle. Perform 3 sets of 5 reps on each side. Coaches should emphasize 'chest up, base wide' and 'slide with the tackle.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the OL's ability to adjust to changing blocking schemes and maintain a strong, consistent block angle.
