FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Bishop Gorman Gaels CB Drill

๐Ÿ“ Bishop Gorman GaelsยทWednesday, July 1, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This week's training tip is designed for cornerbacks at 5A programs like Bishop Gorman Gaels. The 'Shadow and Mirror' drill improves footwork, reaction time, and coverage skills. Set up two cones 5 yards apart, with a third cone 10 yards downfield. Have a coach or teammate play the receiver, starting at the third cone. The cornerback starts at the first cone, focusing on the receiver. On the coach's signal, the cornerback 'mirrors' the receiver's movements, staying 3-4 yards off their back. After 3 reps, the cornerback 'shadows' the receiver, staying directly behind them. Repeat for 3 sets, 3 reps each. This drill translates to game performance by teaching cornerbacks to quickly react to receivers and stay in phase with their movements.
