Reed Raiders OL Drill: Building Power and Speed

๐Ÿ“ Reed RaidersยทSunday, July 5, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, Reed Raiders 5A OL players can improve their power and speed with the 'Med Ball Slam' drill. Set up a series of 3-4 stations with a med ball and a bench. Players will perform 3 sets of 10 reps at each station. At station 1, players will slam the med ball onto the ground and immediately jump up onto the bench. Coaching cue: 'Slam the ball, not the ground.' This translates to game performance by developing explosive power and quick reaction time. At station 2, players will hold a plank position while slamming the med ball. Coaching cue: 'Engage your core.' This builds core strength and stability, essential for blocking in the trenches. At station 3, players will perform a med ball toss with a partner, focusing on quick release and accuracy. Coaching cue: 'Snap the ball, don't throw it.' This develops the quick release and accuracy needed for snap exchanges.
