FridayNightPulse Training Tip: QB Quick Release Drill for Desert Pines Jaguars

๐Ÿ“ Desert Pines JaguarsยทWednesday, July 15, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

To improve quick release and accuracy for 4A quarterbacks, Desert Pines Jaguars can implement the 'Rapid Fire' drill. Set up five stations with a quarterback coach or trainer at each. At each station, have a receiver or target 10 yards away. QBs will start at the line of scrimmage and have 5 seconds to release the ball. If they release within 5 seconds, they earn 1 point. If they release after 5 seconds, they lose 1 point. The QB must complete 3 sets of 10 reps at each station. Coaching cues include: 'Quick eyes, quick release,' and 'Step into the throw.' This drill translates to game performance by simulating high-pressure situations and forcing QBs to make quick decisions. It also improves accuracy and ball placement, essential for success in 4A football.
