Reed Raiders TE Training: 'Box Drill' for Dominant Downfield Presence

๐Ÿ“ Reed RaidersยทMonday, July 27, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the Reed Raiders prep for the upcoming 5A season, tight end development is crucial for their offense. To improve downfield presence, Coach Thompson recommends the 'Box Drill' for his TE players. This drill focuses on explosive acceleration and agility. Set up 5 cones in a box formation (2x2x1). Players start at the center cone, then sprint to the top cone, making a sharp cut to the right and left. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: 'Explosive start,' 'Sharp cut,' and 'Finish strong.' This drill translates to game performance by improving TE ability to create separation and accelerate past defenders. By mastering the 'Box Drill,' Reed Raiders TEs will be a force to be reckoned with downfield.
