Speed and Agility Drill for S Players at 4A Programs

๐Ÿ“ Desert Pines JaguarsยทTuesday, July 28, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Desert Pines Jaguars' secondary coach, Alex Johnson, has implemented a drill to improve S players' reaction time and agility during the off-season. The 'Shuttle to the Holes' drill consists of three sets of 10 reps. Players start at the 5-yard line, then sprint to the 10-yard line, quickly change direction, and weave through three cones set up in a zig-zag pattern. After completing the course, they immediately sprint back to the starting point. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving S players' ability to quickly close gaps and change direction on the field. It also enhances their reaction time, allowing them to stay on top of receivers and make plays on the ball.
