Reed Raiders' Linebacker Drill: 'Shuttle to the Ball'

๐Ÿ“ Reed RaidersยทFriday, July 31, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

To improve speed and agility, Reed Raiders linebackers will focus on the 'Shuttle to the Ball' drill. Set up two cones 10 yards apart, with a third cone 5 yards beyond the second. Players line up at the first cone. On the whistle, they sprint to the second cone, then immediately pivot and shuttle back to the first cone. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues: 'Fast feet, explosive turns.' After completing the shuttle, players will immediately drop into a defensive stance and react to a coach or teammate throwing a ball to the third cone. This drill translates to game performance by improving a linebacker's ability to quickly change direction and close gaps to the ball.
