Speed and Agility Drills for AA S Players: Long Island Lutheran Crusaders Training Tip
This summer, S players at AA programs like Long Island Lutheran Crusaders can improve their game-changing speed and agility with a specific drill. The 'L-Shape Shuttle' drill targets rapid changes of direction and acceleration. Set up two cones 5 yards apart, with a third cone 10 yards away from the second cone. Players start at the first cone, then sprint to the second cone, and immediately change direction to sprint back to the first cone. Next, they sprint to the third cone and back to the second cone. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet,' 'explosive acceleration,' and 'aggressive cuts.' This drill translates to game performance by improving S players' ability to quickly close gaps and make plays on the ball.
