Canandaigua Braves CBs: Master the 'Sprint to the Ball' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Canandaigua BravesยทTuesday, July 14, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, Canandaigua Braves cornerbacks can take their game to the next level with the 'Sprint to the Ball' drill. Designed to improve reaction time and ball-hawking skills, this drill is perfect for A-program cornerbacks. Set up cones 5 yards apart in a zigzag pattern. Start at the first cone, sprint to the second, and immediately cut back to the first cone, mimicking a defender's reaction to a receiver's move. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: 'Sprint to the ball, not the receiver' and 'Cut back, don't overcut.' This drill translates to game performance by teaching cornerbacks to quickly react to receiver movements and stay in phase with the ball.
