Elevate Your Route Running: Dutchmen WR Drill
At Erasmus Hall Dutchmen football camp, wide receivers are honing their route running skills with a critical drill. The '5-Cut' drill targets the fundamental movements required to beat defenders in the open field. Players start at the line of scrimmage and must execute five distinct cuts: a 5-yard in-cut, a 5-yard out-cut, a 10-yard hook, a 5-yard in-cut, and a 10-yard fly. Coaches provide real-time feedback, emphasizing proper footwork, body positioning, and speed control. Aim for 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. This drill translates to game performance by improving a receiver's ability to create separation and accelerate through tight spaces. By mastering the 5-Cut drill, Dutchmen WRs will be better equipped to take on top defensive backs in the PSAL.
