FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Tight End Power Drill for AA Programs

๐Ÿ“ Erasmus Hall DutchmenยทThursday, July 23, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At top AA programs like Erasmus Hall Dutchmen, tight ends need to be physical and dominant in the red zone. To improve their power and explosiveness, try this drill: 'Box Out and Blast.' Set up four boxes (1 foot x 1 foot) in a square formation, with a tight end at each corner. On the whistle, each TE must sprint to the center box, then explosively jump up and punch the box with their hands. After 3 sets of 10 reps, switch to a ' Blast and Catch' variation: have the TEs sprint to the box, then explosively jump up and catch a pass from a coach or teammate. This drill translates to game performance by improving TEs' ability to seal the edge and create separation in traffic.
