The Long Island Lutheran Crusaders are gearing up for a banner year in girls' flag football, with several talented prospects eyeing the University of Nebraska's inaugural 2028 season. Coaches Liz and Katie Sowers have announced plans to launch the Cornhuskers' flag football program, offering a new scholarship opportunity for top recruits. Nebraska's Power 4 status and Big Ten affiliation make it an attractive destination for top talent. For Crusaders like junior quarterback Emily Wilson and senior wide receiver Olivia Brown, Nebraska's 2028 season is a key target. "We're keeping a close eye on Nebraska's progress," says Crusaders head coach Mike Bologna. "Our players are eager to take advantage of this new opportunity." Meanwhile, Ottawa University, Kansas, and Keiser University, Florida, continue to offer scholarships to top flag football talent.
