FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Monroe Woodbury Crusaders' RB Power Drill
At AA programs like the Monroe Woodbury Crusaders, running backs need to be explosive and elusive. To improve their acceleration and agility, we're introducing the 'Lateral Box Drill.' This high-intensity exercise targets the RB's ability to quickly change direction and maintain top-end speed. To set up the drill, mark a 5x5 yard box on the field with cones. Have the RB start at one corner and perform a lateral shuffle to the adjacent corner, then immediately change direction and sprint to the opposite corner. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet,' 'light on your toes,' and 'explosive acceleration.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing RBs to quickly adjust to defenders and create separation in the open field.
