Malik Johnson Commits to Iowa State
Canandaigua Braves running back Malik Johnson has committed to Iowa State University. Johnson, a Class of 2026 standout, chose the Cyclones over other Power Five offers. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound back is expected to fit into Iowa State's offense, which features a mix of zone and power blocking schemes. Johnson's speed and elusiveness should allow him to thrive in the Cyclones' attack. With the departure of several running backs from last season's roster, Johnson is likely to see significant playing time as a freshman. Iowa State's academic programs, including its renowned engineering department, also played a factor in Johnson's decision. Johnson previously held offers from several Big Ten and ACC programs before committing to Iowa State in 2024, only to decommit and reopen his recruitment. Johnson will join the Cyclones in the fall of 2026.
