Trevon Thomas Commits to SMU
Trevon Thomas, a 2025 wide receiver from Mentor High School, has committed to play football at Southern Methodist University. Thomas, a standout player for the Mentor Cardinals, chose SMU due to the school's athletic fit, particularly its Air Raid offense. The Cardinals' system, which emphasizes speed and precision, aligns with SMU's scheme, providing Thomas with an opportunity to contribute immediately. Additionally, Thomas cited the Mustangs' depth chart at wide receiver as a factor in his decision, noting that he will have a chance to compete for playing time. Thomas also praised SMU's academic program, stating that it will provide him with the support and resources necessary to succeed both on and off the field. Thomas previously committed to another program, but decommitted to explore other options and ultimately chose SMU. He is expected to sign a National Letter of Intent in the coming weeks.
