Wildcat Block Party: Springfield Wildcats OL Drill
This summer, OL players at Springfield Wildcats are gearing up for a dominant season with the 'Block Party' drill. This high-intensity workout targets footwork, hand placement, and power. Set up four cones in a square formation, with OL players starting at each corner. On the whistle, they must sprint to the center cone, then perform a 'punch-out' block, focusing on driving their feet and extending their arms. After a 3-second hold, they must quickly recover to their original position and repeat. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'feet first,' 'hands up,' and 'explosive power.' This drill translates to game performance by improving OL players' ability to quickly react to defensive schemes and generate power at the point of attack.
