Trevon Martin: From Injury to Starting Kicker for Mentor Cardinals
Mentor Cardinals kicker Trevon Martin has been a force to be reckoned with on the field, particularly in the kicking game. Last season, Martin made 15 of 18 field goal attempts, including a 50-yarder against crosstown rival Lake Catholic. The 2026 graduate's impressive performance has earned him a starting role for the Cardinals, a Division I powerhouse in the Ohio High School Athletic Association. Martin's journey to the top was not without its challenges, however. He suffered a season-ending ACL injury in his sophomore year, forcing him to undergo a lengthy rehabilitation process. Undeterred, Martin worked tirelessly to regain his strength and accuracy, eventually returning to the field as a junior. His hard work paid off, and he's now poised for a breakout season as a senior. Scouts are watching to see how Martin adapts to the increased pressure of a starting role and if he can maintain his impressive accuracy from last season.
