Tiger-Proof Your CBs: The Broken Arrow Drill

๐Ÿ“ Broken Arrow TigersยทSaturday, July 4, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Broken Arrow High School, cornerbacks coach Ryan Thompson is known for his intense summer training regimens. One drill that's sure to get your CBs ready for the 6A-I competition is the 'Shadow Shuffle.' This drill targets footwork, agility, and reaction time. Set up cones in a zigzag pattern, 10 yards apart. Have your CBs start at one end, shuffling through the course while maintaining a 5-yard distance from a designated 'receiver.' After completing 3 sets of 10 reps, increase the receiver's speed. Coaching cues: 'Stay low, stay light, and stay on the receiver's hip.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing your CBs to develop the quick reactions and agility needed to stay with top receivers. By incorporating the Shadow Shuffle into your summer training, you'll be giving your CBs a competitive edge come kickoff.
