FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Jenks Trojans-Style RB Agility Ladder Drill

๐Ÿ“ Jenks TrojansยทSaturday, July 18, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At 6A-I programs like Jenks Trojans, running backs need to be quick, agile, and explosive. To improve these skills, we recommend the following agility ladder drill. Set up 5-6 ladders in a zig-zag pattern, with each ladder spaced 3-4 feet apart. Have the RB player start at one end of the first ladder, then perform a lateral shuffle through the ladder, followed by a forward dash to the next ladder. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: 'Quick feet, don't look down!' and 'Explosive out of the ladder!' This drill translates to game performance by improving the RB's ability to change direction quickly and accelerate out of cuts, making them a more elusive and effective runner.
