FridayNightPulse: Summer Training Tip for 5A Linebackers
This week's training tip is designed to improve the agility and reaction time of 5A linebackers. The 'Shuttle Ladder Drill' targets the key attributes of a successful linebacker: speed, quickness, and ability to change direction. To set up the drill, place a ladder on the field with 5-6 feet between each rung. Linebackers will perform a lateral shuffle through the ladder, focusing on keeping their feet close to the ground and their weight evenly distributed between both feet. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'keep your feet low and your eyes up' and 'stay light on your feet.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing linebackers to quickly close gaps and make tackles in space.
