FridayNightPulse: 'Rams' Ramp Up LB Performance with 'Shuttle Sprints' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Central Catholic RamsยทSunday, July 5, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At 6A powerhouses like Central Catholic Rams, linebackers need every advantage to dominate on the field. To improve their speed, agility, and reaction time, Rams' strength and conditioning coach, John Thompson, has implemented the 'Shuttle Sprints' drill. This intense workout consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. Players start at the 5-yard line, sprint to the 10-yard line, then backpedal to the 5-yard line, before sprinting to the 15-yard line. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'aggressive backpedal.' This drill translates to game performance by improving linebackers' ability to rapidly change direction and close gaps, making them more effective tacklers and ball-hawks.
