FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Lake Oswego Lakers LB Drill
The 'Lateral Shuffle' drill is a key component of the Lake Oswego Lakers' linebackers' summer training regimen. This drill helps improve agility, reaction time, and overall footwork. To set up: mark a 5-yard square on the field with cones. Have the linebacker start in the center of the square. On the coach's signal, the linebacker must shuffle laterally to one corner of the square, then quickly change direction and shuffle to the opposite corner. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues: 'Keep your feet light and quick,' 'Focus on the corner, not the cone,' and 'Change direction with your hips, not your feet.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing linebackers to quickly close gaps and react to ball carriers in tight spaces.
