West Linn Lions S Players: Master the 'Shuttle-Box Crossover' Drill

๐Ÿ“ West Linn LionsยทTuesday, July 14, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Shuttle-Box Crossover drill is a game-changing exercise for 6A S players like the West Linn Lions. This drill improves speed, agility, and reaction time, essential for shutdown corners. Set up a 10-yard shuttle box with cones and a 5-yard box with a defender. Players start in the shuttle box, then explosively change direction to the 5-yard box, where they must beat the defender with a crossover step. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: 'Quick feet, quick hands,' and 'Crossover, don't just step.' This drill translates to game performance by replicating the sudden changes of direction and reaction time required to stay with receivers. By mastering the Shuttle-Box Crossover, West Linn Lions S players will be better equipped to shut down opposing offenses.
