West Linn Lions CBs: Master the 'Shadow' Drill for Pre-Season Dominance

๐Ÿ“ West Linn LionsยทSunday, July 26, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the West Linn Lions prepare for another 6A showdown, cornerbacks must be ready to cover the league's top receivers. To get an edge, CBs can master the 'Shadow' drill. This drill involves a defender mirroring a receiver's every move, staying 3-5 yards off their back. Start with 3 sets of 10 reps, focusing on quick feet and staying low. As the defender, shout 'Shadow' when you're in position, then 'Switch' when you're forced to change direction. Repeat, emphasizing speed and agility. This drill translates to game performance by improving a CB's ability to stay with receivers on deep routes and in traffic. It also enhances reaction time and decision-making under pressure.
